35 años de experiencia entre viñedos, un respeto casi místico por el terroir y la uva, y la personalidad y empeño de
su enólogo, Daniel Expósito, son los ingredientes principales sin los que no podemos entender las raíces de este
Cava Brut Reserva Especial. A principios de los dos mil, el mercado del cava contaba con dos polos claramente
definidos. Por un lado, los cavas sin crianza, frescos y ligeros, sin esa hondura y sobre todo sin esa autoestima
-en comparación con otras regiones o variedades. Por otro lado, los cavas complejos y con reservas importantes
de las bodegas clásicas, muy profundos. En Dominio de la Vega pensamos en hacer algo diferente, algo que no
hiciera elegir al consumidor entre joven y viejo, entre fresco y complejo. Queríamos crear un cava con frescura,
con una alegría que hiciese sonreír, pero con un carácter diferente, con fuerza y complejidad. Un Cava Reserva
que no dejase indiferente a nadie, que estuviese muy trabajado pero que se bebiese con facilidad.
The main ingredients of Cava Brut Reserva Especial necessary for understanding this product are the 35 years
ENG of experience among vineyards, an almost mystical respect for the terroir and the grape, and the personality
and commitment of its winemaker, Daniel Expósito.
At the beginning of year 2000, the cava market had two well defined poles. On the one hand, the non-aged
cavas, fresh and light, without volume and above all with a lack of self-esteem, in comparison with other regions
or varieties. On the other hand, the deep and complex Reserva cavas coming from classic wineries.
In Dominio de la Vega we thought about doing something different, something that did not make the consumer
choose between young or old, between fresh and complex. We wanted to create a cava with freshness, with a
joy that made us smile, but with a different character, with strength and complexity. A Reserve Cava that did not
leave anyone indifferent, easy drinking and well crafted.
EL VIÑEDO / VINEYARDS
Cava Brut Reserva Especial de Dominio de la Vega proviene de la
mezcla de uvas Macabeo de los viñedos de 30 años de edad de la zona
de La Vega, de suelo arcilloso-calcáreo, y uvas Chardonnay de la Finca
El Pinarejo, un viñedo de 17 años de edad, con un suelo pedregoso
y calcáreo.
Dominio de la Vega Reserva Especial comes from the blend of
ENG Macabeo and Chardonnay grapes: the first 30-year-old vineyard
coming from La Vega region in clay-calcareous soil, the second
17-year-old vineyard coming from Finca El Pinarejo with a stony
and calcareous soil.

más altas.

what we are passionate about. Chardonnay and Macabeo were the grapes that were traditionally used
in Dominio de la Vega to develop cavas. The value of the first as a basis for long and large ageing was
undeniable. Why not using Chardonnay’s aging potential in barrel before bottling and resting with its
lees? 2009 was the year for the consecration of Cava Brut Reserva Especial as one of the best cavas
that exist in the market and one of Dominio de la Vega’s most proud of. In this year, The Reserva
Especial is declared in Enofórum as the best cava in Spain and Robert Parker gives 90 points, one of
the highest scores.
